THE CONSOLER: A Leader we can't wait to have in Osun.
As
September 2018 is drawing nearer, a lot of permutations have been going on with
respect to the next Gubernatorial election in Osun state. Many eminent
personalities have declared interest in vying for the governorship position of
our dear state while many others are yet to declare their interest.
The
electorates on the other hand are graciously waiting for the opportunity to
exercise their franchise and elect whoever they wish to lead them through the
next four years. If there is anything that is cherish-able about democracy, it
is the right of the people to elect their leaders. That's the reason
democracy can never be compared to other forms of government. The constitution
offers us this right so that we can all enjoy the dividends of democracy. Having
a say in whoever becomes our leader is therefore a right that should be
judiciously expended. Otherwise, the consequences of not using it wisely might
be gruesome.
Be
that as it may, we need to ask ourselves
some fundamental questions in preparation for the next election in Osun state.
Are we really enjoying dividends of democracy as we ought to be doing? Do
we really have a say in who becomes our leader?
Are we really in democratic government or autocratic government? Are we
truly stakeholders in determining our fate or we have submitted ourselves to be
ridiculed by the powerful cabals from wherever they originated from? Did we
bargain for everything we are witnessing presently in Osun state? The questions
above are just few of the numerous fundamental questions we need to ask
ourselves great Osun people.
Without
mincing words, we all know that the kind of leadership in play presently in
Osun is not what we bargained for. We all know that dividends of democracy is
not being enjoyed by majority of Osun people. The yearning for change taking
place at every nook and cranny of our dear state is not hidden to those cabals
but yet, they keep adducing to the people that they are not relevant in any way
and so their rights can be trampled upon as deemed fit by those cabals.
In
order for all these anomalies to stop, we
need to stand on our feet and prove our worth. We need to tell the cabals that
the importance of electorates in any democratic setup cannot be
overlooked. We need to assume our right position by electing a grassroot man to
lead us and represent our interest. We need to to tell them that our endurance
is neither stupidity nor act of cowardice. We need to support someone that
can provide us dividends of democracy regardless of the party that fields such
a man. We need to support a man with a
great intention to transform all sectors of our government.
The man whom I am writing about is Otunba Waliyu Ademola Adebayo ROVET. He is
the man that had been divinely designated to take Osun and her people out of
the melancholic situation they are presently and change their story for good.
He is a grassroot politician and a typical Osun man. He is a leader who will
promote Morality, not corruption. Intellectualism and wisdom, not ignorance.
Stability, not fear and terror. Peace, not chaos. Love, not hate. Convergence,
not segregation. Tolerance, not discrimination. Fairness, not hypocrisy.
Substance, not superficiality. Character, not immaturity. Transparency, not
secrecy. Justice, not lawlessness. Environmental improvement and preservation,
not destruction. He is a leader that we can't wait to have in Osun state.
